Dry Eye
The TEAR FILM is an important and necessary structure. It surrounds the anterior portion of the eye.
MAINTAINING a well lubricated eye through our tear film is important since:

It helps us to see clearly

It nourishes the front surface of the eye such as the cornea and conjunctiva

Prevents us from suffering from symptoms of gritty, sore and irritable eyes
Dry eye can be caused by a number of different situations including:

Lifestyle and poor diet
-
Working on computers
-
Air conditioning
-
Driving for long periods of time
-
Weather- humidity or dry climates
-
Previous injury or surgery to the eye with which has interfered with gland and tear production

Certain medications
-
Certain health conditions such as Arthritis, Sjogrens Syndrome, thyroid, lupus, and many more.

All the above and more can contribute to dry eye.
Watery eyes can also be associated with DRY EYES
Treatments
Include:

Certain tear lubricants. Not all lubricants are the same. It is best to consult our optometrists to find out what the most suitable treatment for you.

Drink AMPLE amounts of WATER. This does not include tea, coffee and or cordial!!!!
